Modo is a free-to-play sweepstakes casino with a simple coin setup, a 1x playthrough and 20 SC gift card redemptions. The welcome bonus is small, and published details disagree.
A reasonable first sweepstakes casino: the coin system is the standard two-currency split, playthrough is only 1x and gift cards unlock at 20 SC. The welcome bonus holds just 1 SC, support is email-led, and reviewers disagree on the game count, the state list and daily bonus sizes. Read the live rules before you buy anything.
Best for: First-time sweepstakes players who want low redemption minimums
Modo is easy to describe: a sweepstakes casino with the standard two coins, a low playthrough and a gift card minimum of 20 SC. It is harder to pin down, because nobody agrees on its numbers. Reviewers give different game counts, different daily bonuses and different lists of banned states. We built this review from Modo's own App Store text and the four most detailed third-party write-ups, and where they clash we say so.
When we tried to load modo.us in a browser, the site did not show a lobby. It showed a screen reading "We can't detect your location", with two steps to turn on location services. That fits what the third-party reviews report: Modo restricts play by state and checks your position. It is a good sign for a sweepstakes operator and a nuisance if you use a VPN or a desktop without location settings. The page also sends users in some regions to a geoblock screen, so confirm that your state is allowed before you create an account.
As with every sweepstakes casino, Gold Coins (GC) are for play only and Sweeps Coins (SC) are the ones you can redeem. The welcome bonus, per Sweepsy and The Lines, is 20,000 GC and 1 SC with no code. One SC is a taste, not a bankroll, and it is the weakest part of the offer. The daily login bonus starts small (The Lines says 7,500 GC and 0.3 SC on day one) and climbs with streaks to 20,000 GC and 1 SC, while Sportsgrid describes it differently. Expect to confirm amounts in the app.
Packs are optional. The Lines lists first-purchase deals from $0.99 for 17,500 GC and 5 SC up to $209.99 for 2,000,000 GC and 300 SC. Sweepsy mentions a $19.99 pack with 220K GC and 51 SC, so the ladder shifts over time. Buying never changes your odds, and none of this is a way to make money. We would stay on the small packs, if you buy at all.
This is where Modo is friendlier than most. Two sources report a minimum of 100 SC for cash and 20 SC for gift cards, with a 1x playthrough of your Sweeps Coins before you can redeem. Most competitors ask for more on at least one of those. The Lines says requests are processed within 24 hours and delivery runs one to three days. Sportsgrid reports a similar one-to-three-day window.
The cost is paperwork. KYC applies, with government ID, proof of address and a payment method, and Sportsgrid says purchases and redemptions both need it. Do the checks before your first big win, not after. SweepsKings names ARB Gaming LLC as the operator, launched in 2023.
Modo's own App Store text claims more than 2,500 games: slots, live games, table games, scratch cards and daily jackpots, plus a set of in-house "Modo Originals" such as Plinko, Mines and Dice shown on its banner below. The Lines counts 900+, Sportsgrid says 1,400+ in one place and 300 in another. We would trust the in-app count over any of them. The app has a second act as well: Modo Boxes, a collectible card pack feature, which is not casino play at all and is worth ignoring if you came for slots.
The iOS app is listed, and browser play covers other devices. Support is the soft spot. The Lines reports email-only help with a long reply time and live chat for higher VIP tiers; Sportsgrid reports a reply in under 30 minutes and calls support 24/7. We cannot reconcile that.
Modo suits a newcomer who wants a simple structure and a cheap route to a first redemption. It does not suit anyone expecting a generous welcome bonus, a verified state list or fast chat help. We rate it 6.6.
Sweepstakes play is entertainment, not income, and it is not available everywhere. Never buy coins you cannot afford to lose, set purchase limits, and if play is hurting you, call 1-800-GAMBLER. Modo's own banner says 21+; the App Store lists 18+, so check the terms for your state.
